Our training program focuses on building a solid foundation for your dog to excel regardless of what direction you would want to pursue with them. Whether your goal is a reliable hunting companion for a handful of hunts a year, a dog that can stop and handle to any bird, or a dog you want to chase ribbons with, the basics are what breed success.
Our Background
I started training retrievers in 2012, where at the time I had no idea of the complexity of the journey we were about to begin. I found an immediate love and respect for the training process and the potential of a well trained dog with our first lab Cee Jay. A hobby evolved into a passion into a business and a career. I spent 4 years working for Dane Johnson at Apex Retrievers learning the dog business and growing my training knowledge. We have been blessed with all the relationships we've made so far, and look forward to future friendships, dogs, and ribbons to come.

Jump Start to Success
An early start on the development of your puppy is absolutely essential. Between 2 months and 1 year is the most beneficial and critical time of learning in the development for your puppy. Harnessing their natural ability, promoting good habits, and most importantly mental stimulation are key during this stage of growth. We begin accepting dogs in our program at 6 months of age to maximize learning potential throughout their lives.

Practice Makes Permanent
The old saying "practice makes perfect" certainly holds some validity if the way you practice is detailed, thorough, and consistent in the goals you are trying to achieve. However, even if your goals are clear, inconsistency or sloppy practice can lead to bad habits in a hurry which can turn into permanent struggles in your dog's career. Throughout our training we strive to make each session a learning experience that is fun and interactive for the dog, while making steady progress towards our end goal. Trust, fairness, and respect are the bonds we ultimately create with each dog, that will bring a lifetime of enjoyment.

Training Programs
Our foundation program for retrievers covers basic obedience, collar conditioning, force fetch, and gun dog basics, this is a four month process that will build the foundation for a reliable hunting companion and advanced training. We also offer basic handling for your dog where whistle and hand signals are taught, giving you an added advantage in the field. In order to provide the best quality training, we limit the number of dogs we take in for training at any given time. Please schedule your training program well in advance to secure your spot. Prior to coming into training please send us your current vaccination records, and bring with enough heartworm and flea/tick medication for the duration. Our standard of vaccine includes rabies, bordatella (kennel cough), and DHPL. We do offer these vaccinations and monthly medications for additional cost. Thank you again for your trust and commitment to us building your dog's foundation to maximize their potential. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions, 308-240-2400 or 308-240-2424.
